VOTER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN FLAGGED OFF AT PAU KISAN MELA

The Directorate of Students’ Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a voter awareness campaign titled “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” in accordance with the guidelines, issued by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education as well as the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, New Delhi. Approximately 500 volunteers participated in the rally on the first day of the mela.
The Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal flagged off the rally which aimed to ensure universal and informed participation of the youth in the upcoming elections, while also encouraging them to exercise their right to vote.
“Your voice matters! Exercise your right to vote and shape the future you want to see,” urged Mr Rishi Pal Singh, Registrar, PAU, to the youth.
As a part of this initiative, students prepared various posters and slogans to inspire their peers and took a voter’s pledge.
Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, commended the students for making exemplary efforts, and hailed them as societal ambassadors and role models.
During the mela, students interacted with the farmers and youths as well as appealed to them to cast their votes wisely in the upcoming elections. Additionally, students registered themselves on https://ecisveep.nic.in/
Dr Harmeet Singh Saralch, NSS Program Coordinator; and Dr Divya Utreja, Dr Kousik Mandal, Dr Mandeep Sharma, Dr Sanjay Stapute and Dr Harpreet Singh, Programme Officers, coordinated the campaign. Among those present were deans, directors, additional directors and heads of the departments of PAU.
