BAKERY AND CONFECTIONERY TRAINING INSPIRES FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS AT PAU

 The Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a two-day training programme on “Baked Snacks and Puddings” under “Entrepreneurship Development Programme.” The event, aimed at enhancing culinary skills and fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students, featured insightful sessions led by Ludhiana based home baker, Mrs Deepti Gupta from Dee’s Delight.

Mrs Gupta, a proficient home baker, shared her expertise in crafting delectable baked items, including baked spinach rice in bean sauce, Italian lasagna, ravioli, baked pasta pineapple/mix fruit jar puddings, chocolate mousse and many more. Her journey from a homemaker to a successful “Home Baker” exemplifies the potential for pursuing one’s passion in the culinary arts. Moreover, Mrs Gupta’s affiliation with the department dates back to 2017 when she completed a comprehensive three-month training course in Bakery and Confectionery. Her continued dedication to mastering the art of baking serves as an inspiration to aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs alike.

Dr Kiran Grover, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition, encouraged the students to explore avenues for small-scale entrepreneurship in the food industry. Dr Grover’s guidance emphasized the potential for turning passion into a viable livelihood venture, motivating students to pursue their culinary aspirations with confidence and determination. As the College of Community Science continues to nurture talent and entrepreneurship in the realm of Food and Nutrition, such initiatives underscore its commitment to fostering innovation and excellence among students, she added.

 Dr Poonam Bakhetia and Ms Khushpreet Kaur, coordinators of the training, shared that the training sessions proved to be a transformative experience for participants, equipping them with valuable skills and insights essential for success in the dynamic field of bakery and confectionery.
