PAU Kisan Club Kicks Off First Monthly Training Camp of the Year: VC

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a Monthly Training Camp for members of the PAU Kisan Club (Regd.) on 2nd January 2025 at the Skill Development Centre, PAU. The camp featured insightful discussions on critical agricultural practices aimed at enhancing sustainable farming and profitability.

Dr. R.S. Chandi from the Department of Entomology spoke on Integrated Pest Management, while Dr. Gurteg Singh from the Department of Fruit Science shared strategies for the Planning and Cultivation of Fruit Plants. Dr. Arshpreet from the Department of Agroforestry and Natural Resources highlighted the significance of Agroforestry in Sustainable Agriculture. Dr. Jiffinveer Singh Khosa, from the Department of Vegetable Science, elaborated on Seed Production of Onions, and Dr. S.K. Sandhu from the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics discussed Seed Production of Maize.

The event was presided over by PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, who released the annual calendar of the PAU Kisan Club. Dr. Gosal commended the club members for their efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture and generating profitable outcomes. He emphasized the pivotal role of the PAU Kisan Club in bridging the gap between farmers and researchers by disseminating the latest university recommendations and providing valuable farmer feedback to align research priorities.

Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director Extension Education, Dr. Rupinder Toor, Associate Director of Skill Development, and Dr. Kuldeep Singh from the Department of Extension Education attended the meeting.

Earlier, Shri Satvir Singh, Secretary of the PAU Kisan Club, welcomed the attendees and outlined the club’s activities. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sardar Manpreet Singh, President of the PAU Kisan Club.

The programme, organized under the guidance of Dr. Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director of Communication, was coordinated by Mr. Varinder Singh from the Communication Centre.
